TradeOlogy
The automated trading journal that does the most for the least
Broker auto-sync, a fully customizable analytics dashboard, and a built-in trade simulator - at roughly half the price of the big names.
One of these journals fills itself in; the other expects you to upload a CSV and sit with your emotions. TradeOlogy is a modern auto-syncing all-rounder, Edgewonk a deliberately manual psychology specialist - and the right pick depends on whether your losses come from your setups or your state of mind.

The psychology specialist
A one-price desktop-style journal built around trading psychology and manual, deliberate review.
The TradeOlogy and Edgewonk dashboards, at a glance.
The daily routine could hardly differ more. TradeOlogy auto-syncs from 25+ brokers so trades land without intervention, and mobile access lets you add notes away from the desk. Edgewonk is import-led: you export a CSV from your broker and upload it, typically at the end of each day or week, and there is no real mobile app. That manual rhythm is exactly what some deliberate traders want - and exactly what makes most people's journals go stale.
Edgewonk's psychology stack is the best in the category. The Tiltmeter ties your pre-trade emotional state to outcomes and puts a dollar figure on what revenge trading or FOMO actually cost you; Edge Finder ranks the statistical edges in your history; Coin Flip Distribution tests whether your results beat pure chance. TradeOlogy answers with breadth: six report categories, a customizable dashboard, per-strategy analytics, the Oly assistant, a trade simulator and wash-sale-aware tax reports - Edgewonk offers no tax reporting at all.
Money and markets split cleanly. Edgewonk is one flat ~$169/year with every feature included - simple, but there is no monthly option and no free tier. TradeOlogy's free tier covers unlimited manual entry with full analytics, and Pro on annual billing works out at $144/year ($12/mo) - less than Edgewonk's flat fee, with auto-sync included. On coverage, Edgewonk handles forex but not crypto; TradeOlogy handles crypto but not forex.
A green tick beats a dash. Ties are common — the differences that matter are highlighted.

As an everyday journal, TradeOlogy wins comfortably. It captures trades automatically, covers crypto, produces wash-sale-aware tax reports and - billed annually at $144 - costs less per year than Edgewonk's flat licence, with a free tier below that. Edgewonk asks you to maintain a manual upload habit that most traders eventually drop.
Edgewonk's franchise survives the loss, though. Nothing else puts dollar figures on revenge trading the way the Tiltmeter does, and Coin Flip Distribution is one of the most honest tools in any journal. If behavioural leaks are the one problem you are solving, it remains the specialist's pick - for everyone else, TradeOlogy is the better journal.

Partially. TradeOlogy lets you tag emotions and mistakes in its notebook, and Oly will flag which tags are costing you money - but nothing in the category matches the Tiltmeter's structured emotion ratings and dollar-level tilt attribution. If psychology tracking is the entire reason you are journaling, Edgewonk leads on that axis.
TradeOlogy, in both directions. Its free tier costs nothing indefinitely, and Pro on annual billing works out at $144/year against Edgewonk's flat ~$169/year. Edgewonk's price does include every feature with no tiers to decode - but there is no monthly option and no free way in.
No - they split the difference. Edgewonk handles stocks, options, futures and forex; TradeOlogy handles stocks, options, futures and crypto. Currency-pair traders should lean Edgewonk of these two; crypto traders need TradeOlogy.
